Watching the Snooker Welsh Open Live in Llandudno – 2027 35th Anniversary Tournament

Welsh Open quarter-final match showing the snooker table and arena seating inside Venue Cymru during play.

We attended two sessions at the Welsh Open 2026 in Llandudno.

One session featured matches from the last 16 round.
The second session included two quarter-final matches.

That meant watching four high-level tournament matches in total — completely enthralling from start to finish.

We enjoyed the experience so much that we have already booked three sessions for 2027, which will mark the 35th Anniversary Welsh Open tournament.

The event is part of the professional snooker calendar on the World Snooker Tour and is hosted at Venue Cymru, which provides an excellent intimate arena experience for ranking tournament snooker.

The Atmosphere of Live Snooker

If you have only watched the Welsh Open on television, you are missing much of what makes the event special.

During our sessions we experienced moments that perfectly captured the drama of live tournament play:

  • Twelve missed shots during one escape attempt
  • A dispute that required VAR review
  • Unexpected in-offs at critical moments
  • Colours disappearing under intense pressure
  • A referee being asked mid-frame to remain still

The arena becomes incredibly quiet before difficult shots. You can feel the collective tension across the audience.

Watching at home is comfortable.

Being there is something different entirely.

Accommodation in Llandudno

Although Min y Don Llandudno does not reopen until March, there are plenty of guest houses and hotels operating during the tournament period.

As always, booking directly with accommodation providers is usually the best way to secure competitive prices and flexible booking options.

The Welsh Open in Llandudno is more than a snooker tournament.

It is live sport played in an intimate coastal setting where every shot carries tension, every frame tells a story, and the crowd becomes part of the drama.

If you have only ever watched snooker on television, you are missing something very special.

Perhaps 2027 is the year you experience it for yourself.

Because once you go, you will understand why we are going back.
